Some 160 golfers converged on the three nines at Kingsville Golf & Country Club on June 17, all in support of the HL Tiessen Foundation.
The annual charity golf tournament set a goal of raising $100,000 this year and exceeded that by raising a grand total of $101,100 that will be distributed to Southwestern Ontario Gleaners, The Bridge Youth Resource Centre, UMEI Christian High School and the Erie Shores Health Foundation.
“Besides golf, we held a putting contest, had a 50/50 draw and a competition for best dressed golfers. We even rewarded the high scores for our men and women,” said Linda Tiessen from the HL Tiessen Foundation. “We received a print that was donated by local artist Ron Suchiu for our silent auction and had many items up for bid at our live auction.”
Winning the men’s team competition were Pete Fehr, George Bergen, Matt Snoei and Ryan Sanger with a sizzling score of 14-under par, while the mixed team of Abe Friesen, Sarah Friesen, Mary Fehr and Bill Fehr took the crown at seven-under for the day.
Linda Tiessen concluded with, “ I think the biggest thing is that we are local and we support local. Nothing from our tournament goes to administration as Tiessen Financial covers all of the expenses. Everything goes back to our great community.”

Jane Klassen was in fine form while competing in the putting contest at the HL Tiessen Foundation annual golf tournament.
