Red wigs, wild muumuus and gaudy jewellery were in full display in downtown Kingsville on June 20 with 60 Mrs. Roper wannabees taking part in the sold-out Mrs. Roper Romp.
Organized by the Kingsville BIA, the romp started at Chuck’s Roadhouse, followed by stops at The Main Grill and Ale House, Wineology Kingsville, Banded Goose Brewery, and finished at El Rancho.
BIA Coordinator Jodie McIntyre shared their motivation for the event saying, “The Helens are here to shop, dine and discover Kingsville.”
Participants were also encouraged to take in the local clothing stores, grab a treat at Miller’s Bakery, indulge in some chocolate at the Dutch Boys or rehydrate with some infused water at the Wrobel Plaza.
It wasn’t only about having some fun with friends, as a portion of the day’s proceeds will be directed to the Kingsville Food Bank, along with non-perishables that were brought in by the zany Mrs. Ropers.
Audra Lindley played Helen Roper on the sitcom Three’s Company and the spinoff, The Ropers. Her husband Stanley was played by Norman Fell.
