It’s clear that a synergy is developing in the southern county arts community and that collaboration was celebrated at an afternoon reception on Saturday, January 10 at the Leamington Arts Centre.
For the first time, artists belonging to the Arts Society of Kingsville were provided with a designated gallery at the LAC to display their work until the end of the month.
Sally LePla, both a volunteer at the LAC and secretary of the Board of Directors at ASK, approached Director of the Leamington Arts Centre Chad Riley with the idea of bringing the two local communities together to highlight the talents of the artists living in the immediate area.
“It’s been a dream of mine and Chad for some 13 years now, to have a regional show, and as a member of ASK was thrilled when Chad offered us a spot to house a show,” said LePla.
She added, “We had a great response from our 216 members at ASK and we narrowed down the exhibit in the Art Alive! Gallery to works done by 31 of our artists.”
Riley reinforced the strength emerging from the new partnership saying, “We’re trying to connect the two communities together through this show. We can do far more together, than on our own, and hopefully this is just the beginning of amazing things that we can do with the Art Centre in Kingsville.”

A collage by ASK member Cheryl Borkowski is not only on display in the Arts Alive! Gallery, but also served as the advertising visual for the show on social media.
