10U Lakers win LaSalle tournament

The 10U Leamington Lakers rode a five-game winning streak to the championship of a AAA baseball tournament in LaSalle on the weekend of June 27-29.

The Lakers kicked off the tournament by beating the LaSalle Titans T2 by a 14-8 score on Friday.

Saturday, they played two great games with victories over  the Mississauga North AAA Tigers (7-3) and the Riverside AAA Royals (5-4).

Those victories set the stage for Sunday’s semi-final game against cross-county rival Woodslee Orioles. The Lakers had to come from behind to defeat the Orioles 7-5 and punch their ticket to the championship game.

They met up with Mississauga North AAA again in the final, and again stormed back from the four-run deficit to win the championship with a 6-4 win.
