Sights and sounds of Leamington Fair in the air next weekend

The 177th edition of the Leamington Fair is coming to town on May 22 and will run through May 25.

The four-day annual event will begin on Thursday, May 22 as the main gates swing open around 5 pm, giving way to the World’s Finest Shows midway rides and games from 6 pm to 10 pm.

On Friday afternoon, the official opening ceremony will take place at 4 pm as the gates open for all exhibits and features. At the grandstand, Noble Champions Group Wrestling will begin at 6 pm and the Red Sky Cartel band will take the concert stage at 7:30 pm.

Saturday is Children’s Day with the annual bicycle giveaway, rides, gates and vendors open at 10 am. Ventriloquist Yvette Locke will be on hand for a couple of shows, and the always popular demolition derby will fill the grandstand area at 4 pm.

Popular local band Leave Those Kids Alone takes the stage at 6:45 and is followed by Back in Black – an AC/DC tribute – at 8:30 pm.

On Sunday, the gates, rides and exhibits open at 10 am, followed by two performances by Cassiah’s Dance Company and the NCG wrestlers return for a second card at 1 pm. On Sunday, the gates close at 5 pm.

The pay-one-price admission remains at $25 per person and includes all of the above events and rides.
