Rainy, wet pavement may have kept some hogs off of the roads Sunday morning, May 4, but it did not dampen the spirits of those in attendance for the annual Hogs for Hospice Blessing of the Bikes and the upcoming riding season.
The 10th annual event was held at the First Lutheran Church in Kingsville and was attended by a couple hundred people and followed a church service. The event concluded with a barbecue luncheon which was relocated inside the church due to weather, and music by Jack’s Garage.
Pastor Bryan Schindel offered the blessing, “May God bless you and keep you safe on your bike. May you encounter the risen Lord in your travels, in the freedom of the open road. May the Lord be with you at home and on the road, and with you on your journeys. May God’s mercy, grace and love shine upon you, now and forever. Amen.”
A moment of silence was leady by Cody Kraus and observed by all in attendance for those lives lost on area roadways.
The annual Hogs for Hospice weekend motorcycle rally runs August 1-3 at Seacliff Park.
And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting the concert headliners for this year, Dave Hodare of the H4H Board of Directors says, “an announcement should be coming in the next week.”

Riders enjoy some camaraderie and lunch after the Blessing of the Bikes on Sunday, May 4.
