Run and Roll raises funds, honours loved ones

A cool breeze was offset by rays of sunshine as the annual Run and Roll for the Erie Shores Health Foundation took place on Sunday, May 3 at the Leamington Medical Village on Talbot Street West.

The morning began with dozens of cyclists taking to the streets in a 25k ride that ended up back at the starting point. After that, the competitive 5k got underway with 155 participants signed up.

The popular kids dash is always a joy to watch as about 20 youngsters took to the short course and got rewarded with lots of goodies at the finish line.

The final event of the day was the 5k fun run/walk/roll, which helped bring the overall total to over 900 participants on the day.

The top three females in the timed 5k run were Anna Unger, Cassandra Sieler-Van Every and Juliette Barrette. The top three male runners were Victor Armando Diaz Serrano, Andrew Raffoul and Quinn Brockman.

The real winners on the day were the people who will be helped by the funds raised through such an event.

The top three fundraising teams were Team Nonna, Anna’s Angels and Team Hudson Marteniano.

The Honour Wall featuring several local residents who have passed away, was very visible and attendees were asked to sign the dedication wall where they could dedicate their participation to a loved one.

The Cinco De Mayo themed event was complete with several vendors offering their goods, a mariachi band and refreshments for each participant, all made possible through several various sponsors.

And last but not least, the army of ESHF volunteers made the event go off without a hitch. Plans are already underway for the 2027 event.
