Bellies filled at Breakfast with Santa in Kingsville

By Paul Forman

Hungry families packed Lakeside Park Pavilion for three sold-out sessions of Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 14. Holding this in-person event for the first time since the pandemic, the Fantasy of Lights Committee was joined by the Optimist Club of Kingsville who generously provided the pancakes, sausages, juice and coffee.

“Our club supports the local youth and we really enjoy doing this for the community,” said Optimist Club Secretary Maria Edwards.

Proceeds from the event will be used to add to the Christmas light displays at the park and to help pay for other upcoming Fantasy of Lights events.

Efforts from the Optimists didn’t just end with breakfast as they also ran a Crafts with Santa event later in the day at the park.

Many grandparents visited the Lakeside Pavilion with their grandchildren for the Breakfast with Santa event. Pictured in the foreground are Cathy and Bert Asschert joined by their grandchildren Scarlett with the crown and William (on Bert’s knee). At the end of the table in Christmas red are Andrew and Julie Gibson along with their grandson Atticus Preston.
